Graduate Program Degree and Certificate
The School of International Studies offers a multi-disciplinary graduate program
with three curricula: the Master of Science in International Studies, the Graduate
Certificate in International Studies and the Masters International Program (MIP)
and combines the M.S. in International Studies with service in the Peace Corps.
-
Master
of Science in International Studies - Students complete 33 credit hours,
including four core courses, four to five courses in a designated Focus Area,
and two to three elective courses. Students are encouraged to participate in
an international internship or other international experience. M.S. students
complete their degree with either a thesis or a creative component.
-
Master's International Program (MIP) - This
program provides the opportunity to incorporate Peace Corps service into the
M.S. in International Studies degree plan. Candidates receive 9 credit hours
in the SIS masters program for their Peace Corps service. They complete 24 credit
hours before entering the Peace Corps. After completion, they enroll in 9 hours
to finish their degree. These hours involve reports related to their activities
in the Peace Corps. Interested students apply separately to the M.S. program
and the Peace Corps regional office where they live.
-
Certificate of International Studies - While
pursuing a graduate degree at OSU or another accredited university, students
can receive a graduate certificate by taking fifteen (15) credit hours in International
Studies. They take three core courses and two international-related courses
approved by the program director.
The more than 140 faculty members affiliated with the School of International
Studies come from every academic college at Oklahoma State University. Students
select courses from a rich variety of subjects taught by nationally and internationally-recognized
faculty.
